TOTAL ALLOCATION FOR FY 96: $100,000

PROJECT SUMMARY

The Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (DMHSAS) has recently contributed to the design of a state coordinated, multi-agency children’s data system. The system design addresses many of the principles and recommendations for children’s information systems identified by the Mental Health Statistics Improvement Program (MHSIP) and other Center for Mental Health Services initiatives. DMHSAS will build on these previous efforts to create a Performance and Outcomes Monitoring System for Children’s Mental Services. The grant will ensure the department’s full participation in the development of the state children’s data system, and support the system’s successful implementation and utilization. The focus will be to: (1) facilitate implementation of the Children’s Coordinated Data System management infrastructure, (2) modify the department’s data system and develop an interface to the new system, and (3) develop child-focused performance and outcome indicators that address managed care, welfare reform, and other state initiatives.
