State Reform Grants for Assistance in State Mental Health Planning and Managed Care Reform Efforts

GRANT NUMBER: 1 HR1 SM52053-01

FUNDING PERIOD: September 30, l997 - August 31, l999

TOTAL ALLOCATION FOR FY 97: $100,000

PROJECT SUMMARY

The Mental Health Division envisions a managed care information system which contains data on: consumer characteristics, outcome measures including employment and consumer satisfaction, service utilization, contractor characteristics, system performance indicators, and prevalence data and cost-effectiveness-all of which are synthesized to make information available for analysis and graphical representation, and conventional reports. With the grant funding, the Mental Health Division will (1) create a transparent data warehouse which contains varying levels and types of data of integrated data bases, (2) establish, through a managed care Decision Support System, a coordinated series of products which enhance informed decisions by providing data, reports, analyses, graphics, synthesis, and simulations, (3) implement Intranet technology to provide seamless access to the Decision Support System and other timely information, and (4) add consumer-based information to the data mix.
