PROJECT SUMMARY

The primary purpose of this project is to enhance the use of existing mental health consumer and program information by integrating the Department of Health and Family Services (DHFS) management information systems and to build upon current efforts within the Department related to performance/outcome measures. The project will construct and apply performance indicators to be used in critically examining services for persons with mental illness under health care reform initiatives, and initiatives recommended by the Governor's Blue Ribbon Commission and the DHFS Long Term Care System Redesign effort. The proposed performance measures will assist in identifying the key questions that managers (at all levels) and consumers must answer about the mental health service system and the effects of reform efforts.
