PROJECT SUMMARY

The Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services will pilot and refine performance and outcome indicators selected in the Five State Feasibility Assessment Project as well as develop additional indicators relevant to the State that reflect informational needs of a broad array of stakeholders. Stakeholder participants will include consumers, family members, behavioral health service providers, the State Planning Council, legislators, and the public. Project tasks will include: (1) assessing of indicators in the current DMHAS system; (2) achieving consensus by stakeholders regarding additional indicators (other than the Feasibility project indicators) needed in the state, (3) involving key stakeholders in selecting measurement instruments, refining definitions, developing meaningful state-specific indicators, and in designing a process for the use of information that reflects the concerns of consumers and families, (4) considering cultural competence in the context of indicator selection, (5) and completing of pilots before preparing to report statewide.
