PROJECT SUMMARY

The D.C. Commission on Mental Health Services will pilot and integrate the Five State Feasibility Project indicators and indicators deemed relevant for decision making by system administrators and consumers. At this time 18 of the 28 five state indicators can be reported. Currently under Receivership, the Commission is undergoing an extensive planning effort to transform the mental health delivery system into one that is consumer and community focused, accessible, comprehensive, and culturally sensitive. In the first year, stakeholder groups representing consumers, family members, providers, and the general public will be involved in selection of performance indicators. Given the large number of ethnic/racial groups, cultural competence as applied to performance measurement will be specially addressed. With dedicated staff and technical assistance, as required, a formal process of piloting specific indicators will take place in year two. In year three, the performance indicator system will be put into place with a review process that will include stakeholders.
