GRANT NUMBER: 1 HR1 SM52600-01

FUNDING PERIOD: September 30, l998 - August 31, 2001

TOTAL ALLOCATION FOR FY’ 98: $100,000

PROJECT SUMMARY

The Illinois Department of Human Services, Office of Mental Health (OMH) is particularly well suited to participate in the pilot project. As one of the original States in the Five State Feasibility Study, planning and data management staff have engaged in a number of activities around the collection and interpretation of performance indicator data. Participation in the Five State Study has provided invaluable information regarding strategies for data collection and reporting, and it has enhanced performance monitoring efforts within the State. The Office of Mental Health will focus on three key areas in this grant project: (1) the implementation of the five state indicators on a pilot basis, with preparation for statewide implementation and integration into ongoing operations, (2) supportive and ancillary activities viewed as important or essential for ensuring the success and ongoing maintenance of the indicator systems developed as the primary product of this project, and (3) the expanded involvement of mental health stakeholders in performance indicators activities.
