PROJECT SUMMARY

The Division of Comprehensive Psychiatric Services (CPS), Missouri Department of Mental Health will develop and report data on the 28 performance indicators selected by the l997/98 Five State Feasibility Study. This will be achieved by utilizing data from the existing state mental health data systems and the CPS client outcome assessment initiatives which provide data on symptoms and functioning of adult consumers with severe mental illnesses and children with acute and serious emotional disturbances. A number of the selected indicators can currently be collected, and the project focus will be on appropriateness and outcome indicators that are not collected for all population groups selected. Demographic data are routinely reported for all clients served. Also, the MHSIP Consumer Survey will be implemented, initial work will be conducted to identify performance indicators for users of both mental health and substance abuse services, and a preliminary system of care performance indicators will be developed for children. Mechanisms are in place for stakeholder involvement in established outcomes committees and the Community Mental Health Block Grant Planning Committee.
