PROJECT SUMMARY

The Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (DMHSAS) has developed an information system for decision support that is based on the Mental Health Statistics Improvement Program (MHSIP) data standards. DMHSAS proposes to build on the foundation of the current data information system as the Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS) State Indicator Pilot grant project is implemented. Three goals of the performance indicator pilot are: (1) solicitation of stakeholder input on system review, design, modification and pilot monitoring, (2) production of CMHS-mandated indicators and implementation of necessary data system and reporting format changes, and (3) identification and production of state specific indicators. An expert panel with representatives from several stakeholder groups, including consumers, family members, providers, state and local planners, and DMHSAS staff will actively participate in the implementation process. New and existing staff will perform the specific tasks of the implementation plan.
