PROJECT SUMMARY

The Utah Division of Mental Health, Department of Human Services Mental Health Performance Indicator Project will: (1) pilot 28 specific performance indicators as indicated in the Five State Feasibility Project, and (2) pilot other child and adult indicators of interest to Utah mental health stakeholders. The State plans to take a national leadership role in developing and piloting of children’s performance indicators. The ultimate result of this project will be to develop performance indicator data for use in decision making for continuous mental health quality improvement in planning, monitoring, provider management, policy development, and funding oversight. Project efforts also will focus on meaningful inter and intra state comparisons over time utilizing risk adjustment and other tools for making meaningful comparisons. A critical component of the grant will be an active collaboration with key stakeholders in the community including meetings of the State Planning Council, consumer, family, and other focus groups, and through technical, provider, and Medicaid oversight activities.
