The MHSIP Midwest Users Group is a coalition of State Mental Health Authority (SMHA) representatives (in all of its roles, including representatives of alcohol/substance abuse, mental retardation/developmental disabilities, mental health, and related activities), in partnership with the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS), and the MHSIP Policy Group. The mission of MUG is to share information, resources, promote data standards, technology, and expertise among its members in the pursuit of the advancement of management information systems in primary and auxiliary mental health and related organizations.

PURPOSE:
- to share information, resources, technology, and expertise
- to foster management information systems in primary and auxiliary mental health and related organizations
- to facilitate the expansion, development, and augmentation of the MHSIP and mental health statistics
- to facilitate implementation of the MHSIP throughout the Midwestern States
- to advocate the use of mental health statistics for services research, program management, decision support, and administration
