PURPOSE:

• To promote improvement in the field of mental health statistics
• To promote the use of MHSIP for applied and services research, decision support and overall systems at the local, county and State/Territory level
• To foster collaboration on the utilization of mental health statistics and research projects among MHSIP grantees and participating States/Territories
• To impact and participate in the development of the future direction of MHSIP
• To insure the provision of appropriate resources to continue the progress made in MHSIP implementation at the State/Territory level
• To establish a forum in which project successes and failures can be shared and examined

• Northeast States Hospital Utilization Project
• Analyses of hospital census in the Northeast region
• Analyses include the number of state hospitals per 100,000 residents and the changing characteristics (gender, ethnicity, age, primary diagnosis, and length of stay) of the populations served.

• Northeast States Consumer Satisfaction Comparison Project
• Analyses of consumer survey data in the Northeast region
• Analyses include item-by-item satisfaction rates (by state) using the original 40-item MHSIP survey as a standard.
